Energy Flows Where Attention Goes

Trinity to Neo in the Matrix: You've been down that road before. You know where it leads. Throughout our patriarchal history the road has repeatedly led to conquest, death and destruction, and tyranny… and now, since the industrial revolution, environmental devastation and the extinction of over half of the species on the planet. We can no longer breathe the air, swim in or drink the waters, be nourished from dead soils, or protect ourselves from chemicals that are slowly killing us. Most of us are so removed from nature we would not have a clue how to survive if our systems break down. Our corrupt leaders offer no solutions. “Nothing is going to change.”

Democracy was always elusive and now almost non-existent. Politics only serves to divide us. The partisans are elated when their man wins. Yet, nothing changes. The march to destruction and tyranny continues unabated.

Change will not come from the top. Power corrupts. Too big to fail actually means too big. Militaries are not democratic institutions and exist to serve the rulers. Corporations, undemocratic as well, serve greed.

Though it seems bleak, I would suggest that it has always been so, at least during these last few thousand years of patriarchy. We are given opportunity after opportunity to change ourselves and evolve.
